Below you'll find answers to our most commonly asked questions. Please call our office if you need anything else.
Delta Dental In-Network
We are in-network with Delta Dental PPO and accept all PPO insurance plans.
Comfortable Care for All
We take extra care to ensure every patient feels at ease. Nitrous oxide is available for patients who experience dental anxiety.
Flexible Payment Options
We offer flexible payment plans so cost never stands between you and the care you need.
What to expect
Everything you need to know before your first visit with us.
What can I expect during my first visit?
Dr. Chan will perform a comprehensive examination and review your diagnosis and treatment options with you. Occasionally, treatment can be completed the same day. Patients with extensive medical histories or treatment plans may need to return for subsequent appointments.
Why do I need X-rays?
Recent X-rays are a critical component of your comprehensive exam — they allow Dr. Chan to accurately diagnose the condition of your mouth. We use digital imaging, which minimizes radiation exposure. If you had X-rays taken within the last 6 months, your previous dentist can forward those records to our office.
Do you take my insurance?
We accept all PPO insurance plans. We do not accept HMO plans. We are in-network with Delta Dental and out-of-network with all other insurance companies. As a convenience, we will process your insurance claim for you to achieve maximum reimbursement.
What does "out of network" mean?
Out of network means the dental provider has not signed a contract with a specific insurance company to accept network discounts or company rules. You may still receive partial reimbursement depending on your plan — our team will help you understand your benefits.
Do you see children?
We see patients aged 12 and older. If you have a child under 12 who needs dental care, we recommend seeking a pediatric dentist who specializes in younger patients. Please call our office and we'd be happy to help point you in the right direction.
Is there parking?
There is 2-hour street parking and metered parking available around the building at 3045 Telegraph Ave., Suite 1, Berkeley.
What are your financing options?
We understand that dental insurance may not completely cover the cost of treatment. Please contact our office to learn about our flexible payment plan options — we want to make your care as accessible as possible.
What if I have dental anxiety?
You're not alone — and we're here for you. Dr. Chan takes extra care to explain every step and check in throughout your appointment. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is available for patients who need additional support to feel relaxed and comfortable.
